MUMBAI: A 19-year-old college student from Colaba who secretly took videos and pictures of a neighbour bathing and circulated them was arrested by police.
Police arrested him under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections for outraging the modesty of a woman, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, stalking and secretly taking objectionable pictures and under the Information Technology Act.
Police said that the accused had fixed his mobile in the common toilet in the vicinity and when the victim went to take a bath he recorded the entire video. When the victim caught the camera and informed her husband, the accused abused them and threatened the duo. “The accused also used to stalk her and hence police have invoked the sections of stalking. He has also circulated those videos to some of his friends and hence we need his custodial interrogation,” said an officer.
He was remanded to two days’ police custody.
