Mumbai: BEST bus crushes 7-year-old, his mother – Times of India

MUMBAI: A 7-year-old boy and his mother were crushed to death under a BEST bus at Sion Koliwada on Monday afternoon. The driver of the BEST bus has been arrested.
The boy, Dhanveer Deepak Varoon, and his mother, Savitri (27), who lived at Antop Hill, were crossing the road when they were knocked down by the BEST bus at at Sion Koliwada chowk.
The woman had taken her son to the civic-run Sion hospital as the child had not been keeping well.
After they left the clinic, they were crossing the road to get home home when the BEST bus hit them, throwing both of them several feet away, said senior inspector Manoj Hirlekar of Sion police station.
The child was declared ‘dead before admission’ to hospital. His mother, who had sustained multiple injuries and was undergoing treatment at Sion hospital, died late Monday evening.
The BEST bus driver, Guruprasad Ram Naik Jaiswal (45), was arrested and has been charged with rash and negligence driving, the police said, adding that the driver will be produced before a court on Tuesday.
