Bombay HC orders man to hold ears and repent for hitting uncle – India Today

The Bombay High Court on Friday asked a man to hold his ears and express repentance for hitting his uncle with a stick during a property dispute. The order was given by a bench of justices S S Shinde and M N Jadhav.

The bench was hearing a petition by the accused Jayanthi Chauhan and his family members to quash the FIR registered against him.

The FIR was registered by his uncle under 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.

Justice Jadhav asked Chauhan, “Would you feel nice if someone beat your father? Then why did you beat your uncle?” He then asked Chauhan to hold his ears and repent for his actions. Chauhan complied with the judge’s order while laughing.

Justice Jadhav told Chauhan that he cannot repeat this again or else he will be put behind bars.

The court quashed the FIR after the hearing.
