Mumbai: History sheeter kidnapped, thrashed by rival group; one held – Times of India

MUMBAI: Twenty-one-year-old Siddhesh Bhosale alias Chocolate took utmost care, avoided being spotted by any policeman in Dadar area of Mumbai, but was caught by his rival group members. He had visited the area to meet the love of his life, but had no inkling that he would be kidnapped in a car. The matter came to light when his girlfriend approached the police.
Investigators rescued Chocolate within three hours from Reay Road where he was kept and beaten up.
Chocolate, who is allegedly involved in around half a dozen criminal cases, was externed from the Mumbai limits by the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Marg police station last year. “He had come to meet his girlfriend, who stays in the railway compound in Matunga, at around 7.30pm on Sunday. Chocolate was sitting on his scooter while his girlfriend was standing next to it near the Bullet building in Dadar. This is when four men arrived in a car, assaulted Chocolate and dragged him. He was forcibly pushed into the car. The woman tried her best to save Chocolate but the kidnappers sped away in the car,” said a police officer.
The 19-year-old woman approached the Matunga police. She told police that she didn’t know who the kidnappers were and hence an FIR was registered against unidentified persons.
Police teams were formed under the supervision of DCP Vijay Patil. Investigators inspector Subhash Shingare, PSIs Sandeep Ahirrao, Bharat Gurav and teams swung into action and began collecting details from their sources.
A police team went to Antop Hill, where Chocolate used to roam around and collected information about his friends and foes. Through their sources cops learnt that Chocolate was taken to a deserted cement godown at Reay Road, which is seven km away from Dadar. When a police team arrived on the spot, they found an injured Chocolate and one of the kidnappers, Praful Patkar (24), while three of his associates had already fled in the car from there. “Our teams rescued Chocolate and arrested Patkar. The accused had assaulted Chocolate black and blue with a belt and baton. There were several cigarette burn injuries over Chocolate’s body. He was taken to Sion Hospital for treatment,” said an officer. During the probe, cops learnt that Chocolate had abused and threatened one of Patkar’s associates, said police.
Senior inspector Deepak Chavan of the Matunga police said that while they were checking Chocolate’s scooter, they found a big knife. A case under the Arms act was registered against Chocolate. Patkar and his cronies have been booked under section 367 (kidnapping or abducting in order to subject person to grievous hurt, slavery, etc), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) etc of the IPC. Patkar was earlier arrested in another case of attempt to murder. He was released from jail a few months ago. Search for other accused are on. Meanwhile, Chocolate has been sent to judicial custody for entering the city limits while he was externed.
