Mumbai reports 922 new Covid cases in 24 hours; higher than yesterday – Mint

Maharashtra’s capital city Mumbai has reported 922 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, marking a rise in fresh cases for the fourth day in a row, state health department data shows. Two people died to the virus while 326 patients also recovered. The active coronavirus caseload in the city stands at 4,295.

Mumbai had reported 757 new coronavirus infections due to Covid-19 on Saturday. It reported 490 cases on Wednesday, 602 on Thursday and 683 cases on Friday. The city’s recovery rate is 97 per cent, while doubling rate stands at 1,139 days.

As per the latest data, Maharashtra had reported 1,485 new Covid-19 cases, 796 recoveries and 12 deaths on Saturday. Active cases in the state stands at 9,102. The state also reported two new Omicron cases on Saturday.

India on Sunday reported 6,987 cases of Covid-19 and 162 deaths in a day, as per the data released by the union health ministry. A total of 7,091 patients recovered from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, but the Omicron cases increased to 422.

Meanwhile, in another news, the number of Covid cases at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Maharashtra has gone up to 51, including 48 students.

On Friday, 19 students were found positive for Covid. The school has over 400 students across classes 5 to 12. All the students and staff members were subjected to RT-PCR tests, Parner taluka health officer Dr Prakash Lalge told PTI.
