Mumbai News Live Updates: After questioning him for over 12 hours in connection with a money laundering and corruption case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Anil Deshmukh on Monday. At around 1.30 am, official sources told The Indian Express that Deshmukh, 71, was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Meanwhile, the BJP on Monday held a protest against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s alleged manipulation in the ward boundaries ahead of the upcoming BMC elections likely to be held in February 2022.

Yesterday, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis threatened that he would expose the underworld links of NCP minister Nawab Malik after Diwali with documentary evidences. This comes after Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik alleged that a jailed convict in the case has relations with former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

On the virus front, Maharashtra on Monday reported 809 fresh COVID-19 cases, the lowest additions in a day after May 2, 2020, and ten fatalities.  The tally of cases now stands at 66,11,887 and the death toll at 1,40,226.
