Mumbai: Hall owner, organisers booked for holding garba event, 100 attendees let off with warnings – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Santacruz police arrested three persons — a hall owner and organisers — for allegedly organising a Navratri dance event next to a city-based college on Sunday night.
They were booked after the police night patrolling van noticed several cars parked on the road and enquiries found out that a garba event was underway and was being attended by hundreds of people.
Police allowed the guests to go with warnings, but the organisers were arrested and later released on bail.
Police said they were on a regular night patrolling duty when they saw cars parked near SNDT College. “When we went to enquire, we saw a garba party in the college hall, wherein more than 100 people were dancing and all were seen without masks, violating the Covid-19 norms,” said the police.
Police arrested the event organizers — Gaurav Pokharlal, Manish Bafna and Vikas Mehta — under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Covid-19 regulations.
Police said a probe is underway and more arrests will be made in the case.
