Mumbai: Biker and pillion, on way to attend a funeral, killed in a road mishap in Powai – Times of India

MUMBAI: Two persons, including a senior citizen, who was on their way to attend a funeral were killed after a speeding tempo hit their bike in Powai on Sunday. Powai police arrested the tempo driver, Bhurilal Paliwal (37), in a case of rash and negligent driving and under the relevant Motor Vehicle Act.
The incident occurred at around 5 pm near Powai Lake when the deceased—Raju Jain (32) and his relative Ganeshlal Jain (66) were on their way to attend a family member’s funeral, who passed away a day earlier.
“The incident occurred barely a few minutes after the deceased left their residence to attend the funeral on their motorcycle,” said a Powai police officer.
In the mishap, the two suffered severe injuries and succumbed while undergoing treatment at the Trauma Care Hospital in Jogeshwari. Police said the bodies of the deceased were handed to their respective families.
