In other news, more than 1,600 mosquito-breeding spots were found in Navi Mumbai in July-August, which are the last two months of the current monsoon season. The local civic authorities have asked health officials to step up measures to prevent cases of malaria and dengue in the township, officials said on Tuesday, PTI reported.

Also, in the first six days of September, Mumbai has recorded over 28 per cent of the total Covid-19 cases that it had reported during the entire August. Daily Covid cases in Mumbai stayed above 400 since September 1, but on Monday the financial capital recorded less than 400 infections i.e, 379. It also reported 417 recoveries and five fatalities as per the BMC officials. New data has pushed Mumbai’s Covid tally to 7,46,725, total fatalities to 15,998, and recoveries to 7,24,494.

In weather-related news, a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal will bring heavy spells of rain starting Tuesday across the Konkan, Western Maharashtra and south Vidarbha Marathwada subdivisions, IMD said.
