Mumbai: International passengers entering state to follow regulations imposed by union government – Times of India

MUMBAI: International passengers flying into Mumbai and other airports in Maharashtra will now have to conform with only one set of entry regulations, those imposed by the union government.
In an order passed on Friday, the state government removed the separate restrictions it had earlier issued, which includes a waiver of the RT-PCR test for fully vaccinated international flyers.
Now all international flyers, even those who are fully vaccinated, will require an RT-PCR negative report with a validity of 72 hours.
This is in line with the union government’s norms. Till now, international passengers flying into Maharashtra had to follow two sets of entry guidelines, those issued by the union government and those by the state.
As per the order issued by chief secretary Sitaram Kunte, the guidelines issued by the union government will supersede all the orders issued by the state for international travellers.
The order has also given relief to passengers coming from European countries, middle east countries and South Africa arriving in the state.
Passengers arriving from these countries were required to go in for a mandatory 14 quarantine and RT-PCR tests during their quarantine period, now they will be treated on par with any other international traveller and will not be required to follow any other restrictions.
The state government had issued an order in December regarding additional protocols for travellers from these regions due to the surge in Delta variant cases in Britain.
