Mumbai: 19-year-old boy booked for misbehaving with woman on board train – Times of India

MUMBAI: Railway police arrested a teenager within 24 hours after he grabbed a woman inappropriately in a ladies compartment before robbing her mobile and fled away after jumping from the moving train before reaching Vasai railway station.
The police team found it tough to bring the accused Akash Dodhe (19) to the police station after he managed to overpower them after intaking a few narcotic substances. Police have recovered the stolen mobile from Dodhe.
The incident was reported on August 12 after the victim, Julie Jaiswal (24), boarded the Virar bound train from Borivli to travel to her Vasai home. Police with the help of dump data of the calls that were received on the stolen mobile helped them to track Dodhe from Vasai locality on Friday. “The teen accused does not have any previous record. The team tracked him with the help of technical assistance and the closed-circuit television (CCTV),” said DCP Pradeep Chavan.
Jaiswal was returning home from Malad after buying fish. She boarded the train at around 7.57 am. In the complaint, Jaiswal said, “I was alone in the ladies compartment when the youngster entered in when the train moved from the platform. He caught me by my neck and touched my face, temple, earlobe before punching on my cheat and snatched the mobile and jumped from the moving train and escaped.”
Jaiswal, who works as domestic help, was left in shock after the incident. She somehow managed to go to the police station and lodged a complaint. Accused Dodhe hails from Harihareshwar in Ratnagiri district and does odd jobs in Mumbai. “He pushed and overpowered the police team alone when they tried to nab him. He was not ready to accompany with the cops,” said the Borivli police.
Dodhe is in custody for causing hurt in committing robbery and criminal intimidation.
