Coronavirus latest updates: 30,254 new cases in India; Mumbai sees drop in new patient – Mumbai Mirror

The number of new COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra continues to remain below 5000. Maharashtra on Saturday reported 4,259 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the count of infections to 18.78 lakh while 80 deaths pushed the toll to 48,139. A total of 3,949 patients were discharged during the day, taking the tally of recoveries to 17.54 lakh. The state is now left with 73,542 active cases. Mumbai city added 680 new cases and ten fatalities, taking the tally of cases to 2.90 lakh. Meanwhile, Oxford-AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine can be available in the country as early as the first half of next year, AstraZeneca Country President Gagandeep Singh said. Pune-based Serum Institute of India is conducting clinical trials of Oxford University-AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate Covishield in India.
