Mumbai News Live Updates: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday held a meeting with Members of Parliament from Maharashtra to discuss the state’s expectations from the upcoming Union Budget. The Opposition, meanwhile, termed the meeting as a farce saying what will the meeting achieve if it is being held only a day prior to the presentation of the Union Budget. NCP’s Amol Kolhe was the sole opposition MP in the meeting.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena factions led by both Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and his predecessor, Uddhav Thackeray, on Monday submitted to the Election Commission written statements in support of their claims on control over the party name and the election symbol, leaving it to the poll panel to now decide on their claims, according to sources. The two sides have now completed their arguments and submitted documents and written statements to bolster their claims, an EC source said. The Commission will take some time to decide which side represents the ‘real’ Sena, according to the source.

In other news, the Maharashtra government on Tuesday recognised ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’ as the state song. The song will be adopted on February 19, the birth anniversary of the founder of the Maratha empire Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The decision was taken by the Maharashtra cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
