Ex-corporator goes on fast against RMC plant in Mumbai – Times of India

MUMBAI: Govandi residents fight against Ready Mix Concrete ( RMC) plants operating in their locality has taken a step ahead when former BJP corporator from the area Dinesh Panchal on Monday morning decided to sit on a fast unto death.
Panchal said that he would continue his fast till the time the authorities do not promise to withdraw permissions issued to the RMC plants operating in the area.
Panchal said, “All works in our area have taken a hit owing to the dust pollution these plants have been causing. Citizens have not been able to take their morning walks, children are witnessing dust settle in their school premises and homes of those living in the nearby locality are also filled with dust. It’s high time that authorities stop giving us assurances and instead direct operations of these plants to be shut immediately.”
