MUMBAI: The city chapter of Inner Wheel, a women’s service organisation spread across 100 countries, is gearing to hold a music concert featuring singer Javed Ali, to celebrate martyred soldiers. It has already raised over Rs 2 crore.
“In the 75th year of our independence when the country is celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’, we are supporting this worthy cause. It’s our humble effort to help the families of the bravehearts who laid down their lives for the country,” said Mita Sheth, district (314) chairman, Inner Wheel.
The proceeds will be donated to the ministry of home affairs’ Bharat Ke Veer initiative and its committee will disburse the funds among the families of the martyrs, a release said.
