Mumbai, Maharashtra Live News, January 18, 2023: Agreements for investment commitments worth Rs 88,420 crore in Maharashtra have been signed so far at the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos in Switzerland, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said on Tuesday. Investment agreements worth Rs 42,520 crore were signed on Tuesday, the second day of the meeting in the Swiss Alpine town, said a statement from the CMO. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is in Davos to attend the annual meeting of WEF, the gathering of top political and business leaders which is being held from January 16 to 20.
Meanwhile, in a bid to declutter Malad, the BMC has chalked out a holistic decongestion plan to ensure improved vehicular movement. Malad, located in P North ward in the western suburbs, is the biggest ward in terms of area and population and records heavy vehicular traffic. Over the last few years, several infrastructure projects have also been initiated in Malad, affecting traffic movement. Moreover, street vendors and residential properties have taken over a major chunk of the roads, affecting road widening works.
In other news, preparations are underway on a war footing in the BJP and the Shiv Sena (UBT) for the upcoming BMC polls in Mumbai, with programmes for voter outreach and mobilisation of party workers. Eyeing all 227 BMC seats, and aiming at winning a minimum of 150 seats, BJP has also sought to tackle its principal opposition in BMC – the Thackeray-led Shiv Sena which has been controlling the civic body for almost three decades.
