Mumbai: No Parking zone in Kherwadi, restrictions eased in BKC, traffic police shares details – mid-day.com

The Mumbai Traffic Police on Thursday issued a list of ‘no parking’ and ‘parking’ zones in Kherwadi and Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) respectively. 

Two separate traffic notifications were issued by Raj Tilak Roushan, DCP, Traffic. The first notification said that a report was received from Kherwadi Traffic Division in Bandra east which said that due to both way parking on M.G. Road between the stretch of Government Colony old bus depot to Mahatma Gandhi High School, ward number 93 in Bandra (east), Mumbai had been causing massive traffic congestion and in order to resolve the traffic congestion issue it is necessary to declare the said road as a ‘No Parking Zone’. 

It said that in order to prevent danger, obstruction and inconvenience to the public, the following road shall be declared as a ‘No Parking Zone’ permanently from 00.05 hrs on January 6 onwards.

It further said that there be no parking for all types of vehicles on the said road. Parking shall be restricted on both, north and south bounds of M.G. Road between the stretch of Government Colony old bus depot to Mahatma Gandhi High School, ward number 93.

In another traffic notification, the Mumbai Traffic Police said, vehicular parking was restricted on BKC Road and adjoining roads in BKC in the jurisdiction of BKC Traffic Division since February 12, 2016. However, the MMRDA through a letter on November 1, 2022 requested that inorder to execute Smart Parking System in the BKC area certain premises are needed to be omitted from parking restrictions. 

It said, the following area is now omitted from parking restrictions with effect from 00.05 hrs January 6, 2023 permanently on the following roads- 

1. Fifteen-meter road behind City Park (Avenue-1).

2. Twenty-four meter road in G Block in front of ONGC Building (Avenue-5).
