12,375 applicants for 204 vacancies at Navi Mumbai police Commissionerate – Hindustan Times

NAVI MUMBAI A whopping 12,375 candidates have applied for just 204 vacancies at the Navi Mumbai police Commissionerate. Around 1200 hopefuls are undergoing tests every day during the recruitment drive, which for the first time, using biometric system.

Physical tests that began on January 2 are being conducted at the police Commissionerate headquarters in Kalamboli. Around 50 police officers and 250 police personnel of Navi Mumbai police have been deployed for the recruitment process.

“Biometric system is being for the first time used to further ensure transparency in the recruitment process,” informed Sanjaykumar Patil, deputy commissioner of police (Headquarters).

He further added, “Physical tests begin at 5am with biometrics that record the face and fingerprints of the candidates. This is being done to ensure there are no proxies or any other sort of fraud in the recruitment process. Around 60 CCTV cameras have also been installed on the ground besides 20 handycams to videograph the process.”

According to Patil, around 1200 candidates will be tested on the ground every day till January 12.

“We have medical staff and ambulance on standby for any untoward incident. There is also provision for food and snacks along with toilets and shelter for the candidates,” he said.

Patil said that once the physical tests are completed, the candidates will take written tests, and recruitment will be finalized only after that.

“We appeal to everyone not to fall for any false promises by anyone assuring recruitment in return for payments. We are strictly ensuring that there is no possible interference in the stipulated process and hence are also using technology to ensure it. If anyone approaches with any sort of job assurance, we should be informed about it,” he concluded.
