Pant likely to be flown to Delhi or Mumbai for further treatment | Cricbuzz.com – Cricbuzz – Cricbuzz

India’s wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant has been hospitalised after the car in which he was travelling to Roorkee met with an accident on National Highway 58. It is understood that Pant, who was driving the car, is out of danger now, though he has sustained a few injuries – to his head, knee and back.

Devendra Sharma, Pant’s coach, told Cricbuzz that the family was briefed of Pant’s condition, which is stable but requires long-term treatment. The ligament injury on his knee needs treatment and the BCCI has advised the Max Hospital in Dehradun not to undertake it immediately. He will soon be flown to Delhi or Mumbai where the next course of treatment will be decided. Meanwhile, the scans of the brain and spine are said to be normal.

It is learnt that before he left for Derhadun, a friend of Pant advised him not to drive alone but Pant insisted that he would be able to manage. The crash happened in the early hours of Friday (December 30) between Manglaur and Narsan in the Haridwar district.

Pant was given primary treatment at Saksham Hospital in Roorkee before he was transferred to the Max Hospital in Dehradun. A BCCI statement revealed the extent of Pant’s injuries.

“Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment,” the statement read.

The 25-year-old Pant was most recently in action in the Test series against Bangladesh. He scored 93 in India’s victory in Mirpur. He was not picked in the squads for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka and was scheduled to report to the NCA for Strength & Conditioning work ahead of the Test series against Australia scheduled to begin on February 9.
