Mumbai News Updates: Thousands of people gather at Juhu Beach to welcome New Year 2023 – Times of India

After the pandemic hiatus, New Year’s Eve parties have made a comeback in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). However, Mumbai city and suburbs have witnessed a slight dip in issuance of one-day New Year’s Eve party/club licences as against December 2019, while Thane, Raigad and Palghar districts saw an almost three times rise.As many Mumbaikars have decided to ring in the new year, which falls on a weekend, in resorts and hotels in Thane, Raigad and Palghar, there are more parties there, said excise officers. Also now both organisers, including housing societies, and citizens are aware that oneday party licences are must at events where the liquor is to be served, they added. According to hoteliers, the Covid-effect due to staff not returning from hometowns and a few bars yet to recover from the pandemic-induced losses are haunting owners who now don’t want to take any risk. Also, they added, many have left the city to holiday in Konkan, Western ghats, Nashik, Aurangabad and the jungles around Nagpur.
