Mumbai News Live Updates, 9 December 2022: The Shiv Sena (UBT) on Saturday said Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s statement that the meeting between Maharashtra parliamentarians and Union Home Minister Amit Shah would make no difference to the ongoing border dispute shows such comments are pre-planned with an eye on Karnataka Assembly polls, news agency PTI reported. Senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Mumbai South Lok Sabha MP Arvind Sawant, who was part of the delegation that met Shah, said the latter had taken serious note of the issue and had assured he would call a meeting of the CMs of both states. “When the matter is pending in the Supreme Court, Karnataka went ahead and changed the name of Belgaum to Belagavi. It then constructed a legislature building there and holds a session of the Assembly annually. All this is illegal,” Sawant claimed.

In other news, the Bombay High Court will pronounce its order on December 12 on the bail plea of NCP leader and former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh in a corruption case filed by the CBI. Justice Makarand S Karnik concluded the hearing on Thursday and reserved its order on Deshmukh’s appeal challenging a special CBI court decision that denied him bail.

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) will start its premium bus service on the Thane-Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) route from December 12. The service, called the BEST Chalo Bus, is being rolled out with four air-conditioned, zero-emission electric buses that promise convenient and comfortable rides. The launch makes Mumbai the first city in India to have an all-electric premium city bus service.
