Mumbai news live updates: Schools in Maharashtra are set to open on July 15 with Covid-appropriate measures regardless of the rising cases, said State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad. “We’re taking stock of the Covid-19 situation. Cases are rising, but we will open schools on June 15 with Covid-appropriate measures,” the minister said while addressing the media. “Masks are not mandatory. New SOPs will be issued to schools. Further decision to be taken in accordance with the situation,” the minister added.

Maharashtra Home Department has strengthened actor Salman Khan’s security after an anonymous threat letter was sent to him and his father Salim Khan on June 5.

Meanwhile, the state on Sunday reported 1,494 fresh COVID-19 cases, including 961 in Mumbai, and one fatality due to the infection, taking the tally of infections to 78,93,197 and the toll to 1,47,866, according to the state health department data.
