Mumbai News Live Updates:  With Mumbai witnessing a sharp increase in the number of Covid-19 cases – 505 cases were reported on Tuesday – Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal has asked his staff to ramp up testing and vaccination. In a message to his colleagues, Chahal said that with the monsoon also around the corner, there is a likelihood of more symptomatic Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile, the viral selfie of actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, which had first led to allegations of irregularity in the probe conducted by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Cordelia cruise ship drug raid case, was taken by NCB witness Kiran Gosavi to “show his friends”. Gosavi, who was named as an independent panch witness by the NCB during the search and seizure of the accused, including Aryan, has told the NCB special investigation team (SIT) in a statement that he had called a friend “who just wanted to hear Aryan Khan’s voice”.

The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai police has registered a case of fraud against BJP leader Mohit Kamboj following a complaint by the manager of Indian Overseas Bank. The manager has said in the complaint that Kamboj was one of the three directors of a company that took a loan of Rs 52 crore from the bank and that the BJP leader used it for a purpose other than the intended one.
