Maharashtra News: Mumbai reports 158 coronavirus infections, no death – Times of India

The BMC has shortlisted 10 dispensaries which will be the first among hundreds to be upgraded into polyclinics complete with basic diagnostic facilities. It recently floated an Expression of Interest (EOI) from agencies and individuals to offer the services at these polyclinics. However, given the slow response, the corporation has planned to review certain clauses and float fresh EOIs. In the wake of the pandemic, the corporation decided to focus on upgrading the primary health systems so that people wouldn’t have to travel far for basic health complaints and tertiary hospitals are not bogged down treating minor ailments. While dispensaries provide treatment for fever, malaria, dengue and several other ailments, the services of specialised consultants, such as ENT, ophthalmology, paediatrics and gynaecology, will be added to these polyclinics called Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray polyclinics.
