Mumbai News Live: City records 102 new Covid-19 cases, highest since February; positivity rate at 1.4% – The Indian Express

Mumbai News Live: Mumbai on Tuesday recorded a sharp rise in the daily Covid-19 cases with 102 new infections and a daily positivity rate of 1.4 per cent. This is the highest spike in infections since February 27, 2022. The uptick in cases have nearly doubled in the last two days and total infections climbed to 10,59,433. The Covid-19 death toll remained unchanged at 19,562 with no fresh fatality reported.

Meanwhile, after Amravati MP Navneet Rana wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla claiming she was not given water to drink and also faced casteist slurs at Khar police station after her arrest last Saturday, Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey on Tuesday tweeted a video of the parliamentarian and her MLA husband Ravi Rana sipping tea while in police custody.

A problem in the state electricity distribution centre at Padgha in Thane district led to electricity supply failure in many areas of Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Kalyan Dombivali, Palghar, Vasai Virar, Ambernath, Kulgaon, Badlapur and other areas. Chandrakant Dange, the joint managing director of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited said that there was a burst in the transmission centre at Padgha which led to power failure in many areas of Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
