Mumbai: Woman molested at Dadar station in the third incident in 3 days on Central Railway – Times of India

MUMBAI: A woman commuter was groped while she was leaving a public lavatory at Dadar station on the Central line recently.
Government Railway Police (GRP) nabbed the offender on the spot. Police said the accused was a Gujarat native and had come to Mumbai in connection with work.
The incident was reported on April 1. The woman had gone to the lavatory on platform no. 6 of Dadar station.
As she came out, the accused was standing there and groped her. The woman raised an alarm and with the help of co-travellers caught hold of the accused. He was identified as Basweshwar Ambidhar, 42. Police said Ambidhar worked as a labourer and does not have a previous crime record. He hails from Jamnagar in Gujarat.
This was the third consecutive incident of sexual harassment at Dadar station in three days.
On March 31, a 32-year-old office-goer was molested while she was heading home from work. The woman had taken an escalator on Dadar’s platform no 4 at 6.35 pm. A male passenger standing behind her began touching her inappropriately. As soon as she got off the escalator, the woman alerted a bunch of policemen who caught the accused, Gautam Khermode, 51.
On March 30, a 19-year-old student of fashion designing was targetted while she was on her way to college.
Around 9.05 am, she was about to board the general compartment of a slow local to go to Vidyavihar. A male passenger standing behind her groped her. He also followed her into the same compartment. Once the train started to move, the girl confronted him. He then claimed that he may have accidentally touched her.
When the train arrived at Matunga station, the girl got him off the train and raised an alarm. The accused, identified as Raj Bahadur Maurya, 40, was shortly taken into police custody.
