The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has provisionally attached assets worth Rs 11.15 crore from three people including Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha Raut under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in a case relating to irregularities in the redevelopment of the Patra chawl project at Goregaon in Mumbai by Guru Ashish Construction Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Housing Development and Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL). The other individuals whose assets have been provisionally attached are businessman Pravin Raut and Swapna Patkar, wife of Sujit Patkar who is a close associate of Sanjay Raut.
The CBI on Monday made its first arrests in its corruption probe by taking into custody dismissed Mumbai Police officer Sachin Waze and two staffers of former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. The central agency could not arrest Deshmukh, as he is admitted to state-run J J hospital with a dislocated shoulder, which CBI said was “deliberate and intentional” to avoid arrest.
Meanwhile, a special Mumbai court on Monday extended the judicial custody of Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik till April 18 in connection with a money laundering case. Malik was arrested on February 23 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money-laundering probe linked to the activities of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his aides.

Customs dept intercepts 9 people, sizes gold valued at Rs 2.07 crore
The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the customs department intercepted nine people in three separate operations for allegedly trying to smuggle a total of 4,562 gram gold valued at Rs 2.07 crore.
Authorities revealed that the operations were conducted on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
In the first instance, six women Sudanese passengers who had arrived from Sharjah via Air Arabia were intercepted, according to AIU officials. During further examination, officials found and recovered gold dust in wax form weighing 2,932 grams.

In a statement, the ED said, “The attached assets are in form of lands held by Pravin M Raut, former director of Guru Ashish Construction Pvt Ltd, Mumbai at Palghar, a flat at Dadar of Varsha Raut and plots at Kihim beach at Alibaug jointly held by Varsha Raut wife of Shri Sanjay Raut and Swapna Patkar, wife of Shri Sujit Patkar.”
Comply with Motor Vehicles Aggregators Guidelines: Bombay HC tells Ola, Uber
The Bombay High Court Tuesday directed the cab aggregators, including Uber India and Ola, who have been granted provisional licenses under the Motor Vehicles Aggregators Guidelines, 2020 framed by the Union government, to strictly comply with the conditions laid down in the guidelines.
The court also said that the Maharashtra government is expected to consider the experiences and the nature of complaints that are lodged with the aggregators with the applications formulated by the aggregators for the purpose of finding deficiency if at all in the system.
“The deficiencies will be addressed in a time-bound manner. The state is at liberty to give suggestions to implement guidelines for implementing conditions. The mechanism will have to be consumer-friendly,” the court noted.

Only 26,373 people traveled on Monday – the first working day of the week – on the newly-inaugurated Phase 1 of Metro Line 2A and Line 7 between Dahanukarwadi and Aarey. This was almost 50 per cent less ridership than Sunday when 57,392 people had taken the Metro. From Sunday till 6 pm on Monday, Rs 11.82 lakh revenue was generated from the Metro operations.
Since the lines were thrown open on Saturday night, services have been disrupted due to technical glitches. A train heading towards Aarey station had to be withdrawn at Magathane owing to technical glitches. The passengers had to be shifted to another train.

Taking on MNS chief Raj Thackeray’s criticism of Shiv Sena chief and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Sena Minister Aaditya Thackeray has described MNS as “BJP’s C team” while saying that “it is good to see that the time-pass gang got some work due to the BJP”.
“Our Hindutva is to fulfil the promises and to serve the people. I used to call the MNS a time-pass gang because it used to do time-pass. But now I feel good that it has got some work due to BJP, as it is its C team. While AIMIM is BJP’s B team, MNS is BJP’s C team,” he told a regional news channel on Sunday.
Maharashtra govt didn’t call for October 11 bandh over Lakhimpur Kheri incident, HC told
The Maharashtra government on Monday told the Bombay High Court that it had not taken any cabinet decision calling for a statewide bandh on October 11 last year, news agency PTI reported
The bandh was held to express solidarity with the farmers’ protest and the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. The Mumbai Police also informed the HC that as soon as the bandh was declared, the state government diligently ensured that the law and order situation was maintained and hence the state cannot be held liable.
Pravin Darekar questioned for over 3 hours in bank fraud case

THE MRA Marg police on Monday questioned Member of Legislative Council and BJP leader Pravin Darekar for about three and a half hours. The BJP leader was summoned for questioning in a case of cheating, conspiracy and criminal breach of trust that was registered against him on March 14.
Police said that Darekar was instructed to appear before them on Monday, and accordingly, he arrived at the police station around 11.30 am. He was allowed to leave at 3 pm.
Observing that it is coming across vacancies in public bodies every week, the Bombay High Court granted three weeks to the state government to submit steps being taken to fill up vacant posts in the Police Complaints Authority.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Makarand S Karnik was hearing a PIL filed by social activist Medha Patkar seeking directions to the Maharashtra government to urgently fill up vacancies in the State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) and to provide adequate and timely release of funds and necessary facilities, including a website for SPCA.
Track damaged in Pawan Express derailment near Nashik restored, train services resume: Central Railway
The rail track damaged due to derailment of the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Jaynagar Pawan Express near Nashik in Maharashtra was restored for operation on Monday afternoon after over 23 hours, leading to the resumption of services on the restored track, the Central Railway said.
It took more than 23 hours for the Central Railway to remove the derailed coaches from the badly damaged 300-metre section of the track. Twelve of the 22 coaches of the Pawan Express derailed between Lahavit and Devlali stations in the Central Railway’s Bhusaval division at 3:10 PM on Sunday, leaving three persons injured.
