Mumbai: Now, ‘Sunday Streets’ to be hosted at nine locations – Times of India

MUMBAI: After witnessing the humongous response from Mumbaikars on the ‘Sunday Streets’, the Mumbai police commissioner Sanjay Pandey’ address during the last Sunday Facebook Live Streaming, the ‘Sunday Streets’ has just got bigger. It will be hosted at nine locations across the city on April 3 that will be open for the citizens for fun and frolic on roads without traffic.
The press note issued said that the initiative is aimed at encouraging Mumbaikars to step out of their homes to relax and engage in fun, sporting, and wellness activities on the streets, without traffic chaos and consequent pollution. Three more locations have been added to the earlier six started on March 27.
The nine locations are Marine drive, Bandra-Carter Road, Goregaon, DN Nagar Lokhandwala (back road), Mulund-Tansa Pipeline, Vikhroli-Eastern Express Highway, Chembur-Chimney Garden, Thakur Village in Kandivali, IC Colony in Dahisar – Green Garden and Pet Park. Pandey tweeted on Saturday: “We had this last Sunday. I am sure you will make it even bigger tomorrow. #SundayStreets turn #SundayFunday. 3rd April on selected streets in Mumbai.” On Thursday, he tweeted: “#SundayStreets just got bigger. Now three more locations. As before @MumbaiPolice”.
The City police chief Sanjay Pandey said during the FB Live streaming last Sunday that they are going to merchandise clothes with the Mumbai police names through private outlets and even stalls will be placed during the ‘Sunday Street’. The money generated through the selling will be used for the police welfare fund. Meanwhile, Pandey said the Mumbai police caps will be given free to participants on Sunday Streets.
