Covid-19: Maharashtra’s daily positivity rate 0.7%, Mumbai’s was 0.4% – Times of India

MUMBAI: Less than one out of 100 people undergoing Covid-19 tests is returning a positive result in the state now. The public health department on Thursday said the state’s daily positivity rate was 0.7%, while Mumbai’s was 0.4%.
The rate has been constantly dropping and has been below 1% for 10-12 days in Maharashtra. This is despite daily testing figures dropping to 50,000. Previously, such lower testing figures would be usually reflected in a high positivity rate. At the peak of the third wave, the daily rate of the state had hit 24%. Several districts were reporting up to 40% positivity rate.
Dr Vasant Nagvekar, a member of state taskforce, said there was a drop in people with symptoms so fewer people were undergoing tests. “Most getting tested now are those preparing to go for a surgery or for treatment,” he said.
He added that infectious disease experts were seeing very few cases of Covid.
On Wednesday, the state reported 452 cases of Covid-19, a marginal rise from 359 the previous day.
It was for the fifth consecutive day that the state reported less than 500 cases in a day.
Mumbai reported 64 cases on Wednesday, its eighth day of registering less than 100 new cases in a day.
