Final report of panel submitted in sealed cover to Bombay HC in MSRTC case – Times of India

MUMBAI: The state on Tuesday submitted before Bombay high court the final report of an expert three member panel set up to look into demands of MSRTC workers.
State’s special counsel Shailesh Naidu said it has dealt with the demand of workers of MSRTC to be merged with State employees.
The HC was hearing petitions filed by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation against the striking workers.
Gunratan Sadavarte counsel for the MSRTC workers sought a copy of the report.
The HC bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice MS Karnik perused the report which had been submitted in a sealed cover directly by the department to the HC and asked Naidu whether it can be shared with advocates for the workers, unions and MSRTC.
The court also referring to an earlier order of the HC which required views of the chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on the report asked Naidu, “where is the file” showing CM’s concurrence with the report and its finding? The counsel said he would produce the documents to show the CM’s “objective application of mind” to the report.
Naidu also said he would take instructions from the government on whether the report can be shared right away or some steps need to be completed first.
The HC posted the matter next to February 25.
