Man held with knife inside Mumbai Police commissioner’s office compound – Times of India

MUMBAI: The Azad Maidan police on Monday arrested a 35-year-old man who had come to the Mumbai Police commissioner’s office compound carrying an unlicensed button knife.
Police also recovered a pistol-shaped cigarette lighter from him.
Police sources said that the accused, Anil Rawalia, a Bhayandar resident, is unemployed. On Monday evening, he arrived at the police commissioner’s office compound. When the security personnel inquired whom he wanted to meet, he just said that he wanted to meet a senior officer but couldn’t name the officer. The security personnel questioned him and later frisked him. They found a pistol-shaped cigarette lighter and a small button knife from his possession. He couldn’t answer why he was carrying a button knife.
His mother works as a nanny in an ENT hospital, said police. Cops said they were checking if he was mentally stable or not.
The Azad Maidan police were informed and Rawalia was handed over to them. He was booked under the Maharashtra Police act for carrying an unlicensed button knife. He was later sent to judicial custody. He has no criminal records, police said.
