Mumbai Live News: Five people were killed on Sunday in a collision between a car and a container truck on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. According to the police, the incident took place at 7:30 am on Sunday, after the car crossed to the opposite corridor on Pune-Mumbai Expressway and rammed into a container truck at Shilatne Phata near Lonavala.

Inspector Praveen More, Lonavala Rural Police station said, “There were five passengers in the car. At Shilatne Phata, the car went out of control of the driver, possibly due to high speed and collided with a container truck moving towards Mumbai. All five have received fatal injuries. We are ascertaining the identities of all the five persons. Three of them are relatives and are from Mumbai. Their family members are being contacted. A probe has been launched into the cause of the accident.”

A day after recording 24,948 Covid-19 cases, the daily caseload in Maharashtra slightly increased to 27,971 on Saturday. The day also witnessed 62 deaths due to Covid-19.
