Mumbai News Live Updates: Mumbai’s air quality fell further in the last 24 hours with the city registering 280 on the Air Quality Index (AQI), this season’s highest. An AQI between 201 and 300 is categorised as poor, according to the System of Air Quality Forecasting And Research (SAFAR). The AQI on Monday was 245, which also falls in the poor category. After a brief spell of winter-like chill in the city, Maharashtra will experience rising temperatures and some rainy days accompanied by lightning until Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted.

There was no end in sight to the strike by employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) which entered the 20th day on Tuesday. All 250 bus depots of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) have been shut since November 9, due to the employees’ indefinite strike, which began on October 28.

Former Maharashtra home minister, Anil Deshmukh, on Monday was sent in two-week judicial custody. Deshmukh was in the Enforcement Directorate’s custody till November 15 after being arrested in connection with a money laundering case.

Meanwhille, shops owned by the minority Muslim community were targeted for arson and destruction during a bandh called by the BJP in Maharashtra’s Amravati, officials told The Indian Express.

In the Kotwali area, where the violence took place, police officials said they were outnumbered by a massive gathering of activists of the BJP, Bajrang Dal, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. The police have registered 26 FIRs, 15 of them for Saturday’s violence and 11 for Friday’s incidents, at various police stations across the city, and arrested 60 people.
