Mumbai: BMC appeals to citizens to register as voters ahead of 2022 civic elections – Times of India

MUMBAI: Ahead of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls in early 2022, the civic body on Thursday appealed to citizens to get themselves registered as voters in a special drive being conducted by the state election commission (SEC) starting next month.
Within this, correction of names and addresses is also possible. Those citizens who will turn 18-years-old on January 1, 2022, will be eligible to cast their vote. The upcoming polls for 227 seats of the BMC are expected to be held in February 2022.
The websites www.nvsp.in and www.ceo.maharashtra.nic.in are available for online registration of voters while the toll free number 1950 is available for voter registration inquiry. The final voter list will be published on January 5, 2022, after completing all the formalities related to the correction, claims and objections related to the voter list. The same list will be valid for the coming general election of BMC.
“The Election Commission of India will conduct a brief revision of the voter list from November 1, 2021, to November 30, 2021. In this, a citizen who has completed 18 years of age on January 1, 2022, will be able to register his name in the relevant Assembly voter list. Eligible citizens should register as voters and help increase the average turnout by voting in the forthcoming general elections of the BMC,” the civic body said.
