Mumbai News Live Updates: Red alert for heavy rainfall in several districts today; Maharashtra raises issue of security vacuum on Chhattisgarh borders – The Indian Express



In Mumbai, along with Sindhudurg, Nandurbar, Pune and Marathwada, thunderstorms with lightning, gusty winds and very heavy rain at isolated places are very likely on Tuesday.

Mumbai News Live Updates: Under the influence of the cyclonic storm Gulab, now a deep depression, Maharashtra will witness a heavy rain spell on Tuesday and Wednesday. A red alert has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Jalgaon and Nasik. Heavy falls with gusty winds are also very likely in Mumbai today.

Maharashtra on Monday raised the issue of a “security vacuum” in the areas of its border with Chhattisgarh in Gadchiroli and Gondia in a meeting of left-wing extremism affected states chaired by Union Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi.

Meanwhile, the Bharat Bandh call by farmers led to symbolic protests at several places in Maharashtra. The ruling Congress and NCP supported the bandh but the Shiv Sena remained non-committal on the issue. NCP minister and spokesperson Nawab Malik on Monday led his party workers and participated in a protest at the Sion Circle in Sion East, Mumbai. At Aurangabad, state NCP president Jayant Patil along with party workers demonstrated by wearing black badges. At Solapur, CPI(M) workers lead by senior state leader Adam Master came out on the streets to protest against farm laws.

On the virus front,  Mumbai on Sunday recorded 479 fresh Covid-19 cases on Sunday and five fatalities. With 481 new recoveries, the total number of active cases in the city stood at 4,667.
