The weather department has issued an orange alert in Mumbai and Thane for Wednesday, whereas a red alert has been sounded in Palghar, as the city and its neighbouring regions have continued to receive heavy rains since Tuesday night. Meanwhile, the Covid-19 vaccination drive will remain suspended in Thane on September 10, 11, 14, 16 and 19, while only the second dose will be administered in Mumbai today. The city has so far recorded 16,000 Covid-19 deaths and 7,47,078 cases since the onset of the pandemic. Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Tuesday warned that the third wave of Covid-19 has already hit the city and that citizens should not let their guards down during the festive season.
