Mumbai News LIVE Updates: City records 788 new COVID-19 cases, 27 fatalities

The southwest monsoon arrived in Mumbai and its neighbouring areas on Wednesday as heavy rains lashed the country’s financial capital and suburbs since early morning. While waterlogging reported at several places, local services between Kurla and CSMT were halted. Several BEST buses were also diverted. Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tally in the city rose to 7,13,002 with the addition of 673 new infections. The death toll jumped to 15,073 in the city with seven fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 on Tuesday, the lowest single-day death count since March 28, 2021. The recovery rate of Mumbai District is 95 per cent, while the case doubling rate was 543 days. The metropolis hosts 15,701 active cases.Read Less
