Mumbai on Thursday reported the highest single-day spike in new COVID-19 cases with 8,646 people testing for the virus. Along with the Mumbai region, Thane city too reported the highest single day spike with 1,432 cases. The active cases now in Mumbai city has crossed 55,000 mark and inched towards 10,000 mark in Thane. Meanwhile, reducing the COVID test rates further, the Maharashtra government announced that the rates of RT-PCR tests have been slashed to Rs 500 from Rs 1,000.
