Mumbai: Municipal Corporation revises guidelines for passengers from countries hit by new coronavirus strain – Times Now

Mumbai: The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has revised quarantine guidelines for passengers arriving from countries and regions hit by the new coronavirus strain including the United Kingdom (UK), Europe, Middle East, South Africa at Mumbai International Airport.

As per the revised guidelines, RT-PCR Tests will be conducted only on Day 7 of arrival. If found negative, the passenger will be discharged from institutional quarantine and undergo seven-day home quarantine.

“Travellers will be kept under institutional quarantine after arrival. RT-PCR tests will be conducted only on the 7^th day from the day of arrival at their respective hotels/institutional facilities at their cost,” as per the order.

Institutional quarantine is exempted for officials working in a foreign embassy and in Counsel General Office.

“A total of 14 days quarantine is to be ensured. A home quarantine stamp will be put and undertaking will be taken from the travellers that they will abide to be in home quarantine. If the test result is found positive, the passenger will be shifted to designated Covid-19 hospital. Seven Hills for UK and GT Hospital for travellers from other countries for further evaluation and treatment,” the order said.

The guidelines under the “Vande Bharat Mission” for officials working in embassy will have to be followed for the application for exemption, it said.

Notably, as many as 970 passengers landed at the Mumbai international airport from different parts of the world including Europe and the Middle-East on Friday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
Of them, 489 were quarantined in the city. The passengers arrived by eight international flights during the day.

Three out of eight flights arrived from Europe and Middle East countries, carrying a total of 120 passengers. Of them, 32 were kept in institutional quarantine in Mumbai.
