Mumbai: Two women found themselves in an uncomfortable situation after a 27-year-old youth allegedly flashed his private parts at them after calling them for help.

The incident happened near Vidyavihar railway station in Mumbai around 2:30 pm on Saturday. The two women, in their complaint registered at Tilak Nagar police station, stated that the accused, who was sitting in a car, called them to ask for an address, and suddenly unzipped his pants and flashed at them, The Indian Express reported.

Women noted vehicle’s registration number

Police said the complainants had taken down the registration number of the car in which the accused was seated. With the help of the vehicle’s registration number, cops arrested him near Natraj bar. He was identified as Bittu Palsingh Parcha.

“The accused is a sweeper and was driving his friend’s car when he flashed at the women,” Inspector Lata Sutar told IE.

An offence has been registered against the accused under sections 354(A)(1) (sexual harassment), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 336 (act endangering life) of the Indian Penal Code.

Another incident

Meanwhile, police on Saturday raided a dance bar that was operating despite the pandemic-induced lockdown restrictions in Goregaon and arrested 19 persons in connection with it.

Zone XI DCP Vishal Thakur said 15 customers and four bar staff were arrested while 11 women were rescued.

The bar was operating without relevant permissions, the DCP said, adding that probe revealed that it was being operated only for “special customers”. Further investigations into the case are underway.
