Mumbai COVID tracker: 1,620 test positive, nearly 2,000 recover in 24 hours – Mumbai Mirror

After reporting a huge spike for weeks, Mumbai city on Monday saw a drop as new COVID-19 cases fell below the 2,000 mark.

With a spike of 1,620 new COVID-19 cases, the tally has increased to 2.31 lakh. The number of active patients in the city stands at 22,693.

The death toll too remained below 50 with 36 new casualties, taking the overall toll to 9,466.

Among those dead, 30 had co-morbidities and 28 patients were above the age of 60.

The recoveries also increased to 1.9 lakh with 1,968 more virus-infected patients getting discharged from hospitals.

While the recovery rate of patients is 84 per cent, the doubling rate stands at 69 days.

So far, the civic body has conducted 12.71 lakh tests.

A BMC official said the city has 9,872 sealed buildings and 652 containment zones in slums and chawls.

On the other hand, Maharashtra cases also dropped by almost half, recording 7,089 new cases with 165 deaths and 15,656 recoveries.
