Mumbai: Arrest channel editor for hate speech, says Bandra MLA – Times of India

MUMBAI: Bandra East MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui has filed a complaint at the Nirmal Nagar police station and sought an FIR under Section 153 A (promoting enmity among groups) of the IPC against a news channel. He demanded the arrest of Suresh Chavhanke, the chief editor of the channel, for airing “communal and derogatory” content.
A police officer said that since an FIR was already lodged in Nashik, Siddiqui’s complaint was sent there.
The complaint said that in the promotional video for its show Bindas Bol, Chavhanke made derogatory remarks against members of a community who qualify for the civil services. He made communal remarks against the Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi.
The anchor told his viewers that he would expose “UPSC jihad” and “Jamia Jihad”. The show was not telecast on Friday as the Delhi high court stayed its telecast. “Mr Suresh Chavhanke should be arrested and his social media accounts where he has put up the video should be suspended,” Siddiqui, who also met police commissioner Parambir Singh, said
