Covid19 LIVE Updates: Mumbai records 791 new cases; passenger trains to resume from May 12 – bookings on IRCTC – Mumbai Mirror

With as many as 875 people testing positive on Sunday alone, the number of such patients in Mumbai city surged to 13,564. The COVID-19 death toll crossed the 500-mark in the city as 19 people succumbed to the infection on Sunday. Mumbai’s death toll now stands at 508.In Maharashtra, 1,278 people came out to be positive on Sunday taking the state tally to 22,171. The number of fatalities across the state has climbed to 832.The Maharashtra government on Sunday decided to bear the travel expenses of those migrant labourers who lacked resources but wanted to return to their home states amidst the coronavirus-induced lockdown.Meanwhile, the Indian Railways is all set to gradually restart passenger trains, besides the Shramik trains for migrants, from May 12, with initially 15 trains being run from Delhi. Booking for reservations in these trains will start at 4 pm today on the official IRCTC website.As India enters the last week of the 54-day lockdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a video conference with chief ministers today with the focus expected to be on reviving the economy and scaling up all efforts to bring more red zones into orange or green zones.
