Mumbai: 27-year-old sex pest arrested for assaulting 12-year-old boy – Times of India

MUMBAI: A 27-year-old resident of Parsi Colony in Andheri was arrested after a domestic help’s 12-year-old son complained the man sexually assaulted him.
The Meghwadi police on Monday arrested the man under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. He has been remanded to judicial custody.
Residents alleged there had been similar complaints against accused in the past and he had attempted to assault other kids in the area too. According to the police, the incident took place on Holi when the accused was seen with a minor boy suspiciously walking toward his building.
Police said locals spotted him and immediately went to the society office and demanded to see CCTV footage.
The CCTV images showed the accused walking with a boy who appeared to be from an underprivileged background. “As the boy appeared to be poor, we started digging further and found he was the son of a domestic help staying in the slums behind our colony. We identified the parents and took them to Meghwadi police and lodged a complaint. The police were very cooperative and immediately booked him,’’ said a resident on condition of anonymity.
Senior inspector Sudhir Nigudkar confirmed they had arrested the man. He said several members of the society accompanied the parents of the victim to give moral support.
