Belagavi-Maharashtra News Live Updates (December 6): Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and expressed his displeasure over the incidents at Hirebagwadi near Belagavi. Bommai said that strict action will be taken against the culprits after looking into these incidents. He also assured in a telephonic conversation with Devendra Fadnavis that the vehicles coming from Maharashtra will be protected.

Maharashtra ministers Chandrakant Patil and Shambhuraj Desai, who are nodal ministers for coordination regarding legal matters in Maharashtra Karnataka border dispute, have rescheduled their trip to Belagavi and will not be going today. “Belagavi visit is not on the schedule today,” a spokesperson for Chandrakant Patil told The Indian Express. Patil is in Pune so far, on Tuesday morning. Karnataka government had urged Maharashtra not to send its ministers to Belagavi amidst border dispute flare up. Meanwhile, NCP leader Ajit Pawar criticised the decision of the government and said, “This is a failure of the Maharashtra Government, and to conceal their failure, they are giving frivolous excuses.”

In other news, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis paid tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 66th death anniversary on Tuesday. The death anniversary of the chief architect of the Constitution is observed as ‘Mahaparinirvan Din’. Governor Koshyari, CM Shinde and his deputy Fadnavis paid floral tributes to Ambedkar at his memorial ‘Chaityabhoomi’ at the Shivaji Park in Dadar area of Mumbai.
