Mumbai Latest News Updates Live: Union minister Narayan Rane said even the Maharashtra chief minister had used unpalatable words while referring to BJP leaders Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath.

Speaking to reporters after securing bail from a Mahad court on Tuesday and further relief from the Bombay High Court on Wednesday, Rane also asserted that he is not afraid of the ruling Shiv Sena in the state.

“I am not afraid of anyone and I am not backing out. My words were an expression of anger against the chief minister (Uddhav Thackeray) who forgot the year of India’s Independence. I only told reporters what he had already said, so how can it be a crime,” Rane said.

The Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court on Wednesday that it would not take any coercive action against Union minister Narayan Rane in an FIR registered in Nashik over his controversial remarks against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

A division bench of Justices S S Shinde and N J Jamadar was hearing a petition filed by Rane, seeking to quash the FIR lodged in Nashik and all other cases that may be lodged in future.

In an embarrassment to the Shiv Sena amid the high-voltage showdown with Union minister Narayan Rane, a video clip of Transport Minister Anil Parab shows him ordering police officers to arrest Rane without delay.

Union Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha member Narayan Rane was arrested Tuesday by Maharashtra Police for threatening to “slap” Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He was released on bail in Mahad in Raigad, nearly nine hours after his arrest, but district officials said there were four other FIRs against him in the state.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has introduced a mobile application — MSRTC Commuters App — which shows commuters the live location of buses plying on the roads. The technology uses a ‘Vehicle Tracking System’ (VTS) which has already been installed for internal use in all of MSRTC’s 18,000 buses, said an official.
