Six-month-old 19th measles victim in Mumbai since September 2022 – Indiatimes.com

MUMBAI: The city registered another measles death on Saturday when a six-month-old girl from Cheetah Camp, Trombay, passed away.
This is the 19th measles death in the city since September 2022 when an outbreak was noticed in Govandi.
In January itself, four children have died due to the viral infection so far, with the third death of a nine-month-old boy from Antop Hill notified on Friday.
Regarding the latest death, BMC officials said the six-month-old was not eligible for the measles rubella vaccine. “She developed fever, cough and cold on January 9 and was admitted to the ICU of a civic hospital on December 12,” an official said. Her condition deteriorated and she died on Friday. BMC executive health Dr Mangala Gomare said although four children had died recently, the civic death committee would have to determine the exact cause of death. While they had measles, the committee will ascertain if it was the cause of death. “Our vaccination drive has been progressing well with our teams vaccinating more than the monthly target for November and December,” she said.
