The world’s #1 bar is coming to Mumbai – Condé Nast Traveller India

Just in time for you to get over all those earnest NYE resolutions and the charade that is Dry January, the world’s top bartenders and mixologists are descending upon Mumbai on 25-26 February. Expect a weekend that will bring together distillers, craft brands from around the world, masters and industry experts, F&B pioneers, and handpicked spirits from across categories and more at The Vault Home Bar Festival at the Jio World Garden in BKC.

Cocktail fans, line up! Barcelona’s Paradiso Bar, judged the #1 bar by The World’s 50 Best Bars list, will pop up at the festival, along with award-winning and worth-the-hype bar Lost & Found Drinkery from Nicosia, Cyprus, as well as the team from Le Club in Matsuyama in Japan, which creates fantastical cocktails inspired by Japanese cuisine. It’s unlikely that you will get to taste the creations of so many internationally acclaimed bartenders under one roof anytime soon.

That’s not all—connoisseurs can expect to sample lesser-known spirits such as Giants Basalt Rock Gin as well as Procera, one of the most expensive gins in the world. There will also be collaborations with chocolatiers like Ether’s Prateek Bakhtiani and sessions on the world of sensory experiences by the Aroma Academy, UK.

Put together by the team that launched the fine spirits festival The Vault Biennale, in 2019, The Vault Home Bar Festival is a reloaded avatar of the previous edition, keeping in mind how the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns changed our drinking behaviour. Says founder Keshav Prakash, “the past two years have allowed us to really understand and appreciate not just our drinks but also have a new-found respect for what bartenders and mixologists can do. Home bars have developed as extensions of our personalities. So we’re bringing together sessions that allow our patrons to taste, discover and indulge all of their senses.” The festival will be divided into four sections: Taste, Discover, Listen and Indulge that will allow folks to interact with the world’s best distillers, listen to conversations for the curious as well as the connoisseur, discover delightful flavour and sensory pairings and enjoy curated one-of-a-kind cocktail experiences.

While we suggest lining your stomach before you get to the festival, here’s Prakash’s advice for ending the weekend without a headache. “The hangover is passé. Drink slow and drink good. That’s the best way to avoid a disaster.” We’ll take his advice on this one.
