Mumbai News Live Updates: The Bombay High Court has issued a notice to Maharashtra minister Abdul Sattar for ordering ‘regularisation’ of the possession of land reserved for public ‘gairan’ (grazing) in favour of a private person in the face of a civil court order. There shall be an interim stay to the effect and operation of the order passed on June 17, 2022 by Sattar until further orders, the HC’s Nagpur bench said while issuing the notice on December 22. The details were available on Saturday.

Even as the first phase of the 24.5-kilometre-long Mumbai Metro Line 5 connecting Thane to Kalyan via Bhiwandi has gathered steam, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the agency responsible for the infrastructure development in Mumbai, will put on hold the 4-kilometre stretch in Phase 2, officials said. The MMRDA is yet to get an official notification from the Maharashtra government to build the rail line underground from Dhamankar Naka to Temghar which is part of the 11.8-km-long second phase work from Bhiwandi to Kalyan.

Mumbai’s real estate market saw highest ever sale in 2022 in terms of the number of properties registered. According to data from Liases Foras – an independent real estate research company – on housing market trend in 2022, Mumbai Metropolitian Region (MMR) recorded the highest ever supply of new houses, followed by Pune, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. The data revealed that in September 2021, the supply of new houses in MMR was 9,022. This September, the figure was 22,044 – an increase of 144 per cent. The average price growth in MMR, however, was only 1 per cent, the data showed.
