Dhruv Shorey turned out to be the mainstay of Delhi’s innings as he finished with an undefeated 216-ball 139 against Assam. At close of play on Day 1, Delhi were 271 for the loss of seven wickets. The opener had to steady the innings after Delhi were reduced to 74 for 4. Dhruv found able allies in Vaibhav Rawal (43 runs) and Hrithik Shokeen (29 runs), as the opener stitched crucial stands of 103 and 55 with them respectively.

Dhruv Jurel and Madhav Kaushik notched up hundreds – 194 not and 107 – as Uttar Pradesh took control of proceedings versus Nagaland. The opening duo strung together an association of 247 in just under 60 overs. Rinku Singh also made an impact with an unbeaten 58. At stumps, UP had progressed to 400 for 3.

Anustap Majumdar (205-ball unbeaten 159) was the mainstay of Bengal’s recovery, with the East Zone side recovering from 44 for 5 to finish with 310 for 9 versus Himachal Pradesh. The reliable Shahbaz Ahmed also chipped in with a fine 97-ball 49 and shared a key alliance of 110 with Majumdar.

Opener Babul Kumar was the cornerstone of Bihar’s first day effort as his 156 off 228 balls steered Bihar to 293 for 7 versus Mizoram. The opener smashed as many as 22 fours and three sixes in his innings before being the seventh man dismissed, just before the close of play.

Deepak Hooda (133 off 187) turned out to be the star performer for Rajasthan as he piloted his side to 310 for 5 against Kerala. He crunched 14 boundaries and one six in his innings before falling to Jalaj Saxena. Salman Khan was the other batter who made an impression and remained undefeated 62.

Jyotsnil Singh and Pratyush Kumar – 186 not out and 110 – notched up centuries to power Baroda to an imposing 370 for 2 versus Haryana. The opening duo shared an association of 234. Vishnu Solanki also made an impact, ending the day on an unbeaten 60.

Yashasvi Jaiswal finished with an enterprising 195-ball 162 while Ajinkya Rahane led from the front with a 190-ball 139 as Mumbai smashed 457 for 3 in a single day against Hyderabad in an Elite Group B game. Jaiswal cracked 27 fours and one six in his innings while Rahane stroked 18 fours and two sixes.

Rajesh Bishnoi jnr ended up with impressive figures of 4 for 28 off 22 overs to help Meghalaya take a slight upper hand in their Plate Group game against Sikkim. Sikkim were bowled out for just 140 but their opening bowler Palzor Tamag bagged three wickets for the cost of 18 runs to reduce Meghalaya tok 46 for 3 at close of play.

Remruatdika Ralte and Taruwar Kohli combined to take eight wickets between them to ensure Arunachal Pradesh were bundled out for just 63. In fact, T Kohli ended up with amazing figures of 4 for 2 off eight overs. Mizoram were 191 for 5, in front by 128 at stumps.

Adarsh Singh (five wickets) for Railways and Baltej Singh (four wickets) for Punjab shared the headlines on Day 1 at the Karnail Singh Stadium in Delhi. Punjab could muster a mere 162 but thanks to Baltej’s efforts, Railways themselves were tottering at 77 for 7 at stumps, still behind by 85 runs.

Tripura’s medium pacer Ajay Sarkar bagged a six-wicket haul as Vidarbha were bowled out for 264 in their first innings. Rajat Dey also took a two-for. Tripura were 3 for no loss, still trailing by 261 when stumps were drawn.

Swing bowler Sandeep Sharma took a five-for to help Chandigarh restrict Madhya Pradesh to 289 for 7. Hartejassvi Kapoor (2 for 64) was the only other Chandigarh bowler to take wickets. Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar top-scored for MP with a trademark, flamboyant innings of 88.

Pace bowler Vidhwath Kaverappa took noteworthy figures of 4 for 52 from 16 overs while the rest of the Karnataka bowlers chipped in with wickets as Puducherry were nipped out for 170. Karnataka had progressed to 111 for 1, still behind by only 59 runs at stumps.

Left-arm spinner Swapnil Singh returned figures of 4 for 48 to help Uttarakhand bowl Odisha out for just 213 in Elite Group A. Uttarakhand were 4 for no loss when the stumps were drawn. Mayank Mishra also played his part by taking a three-wicket haul.

Pace bowler Ravi Kiran plucked a five-for, with Chhattisgarh bowling out Services for only 213. Ajay Mandal also chipped in with a three-for. At stumps, Chhattisgarh were 9 for no loss, still behind by 214.
